Product Overview

Manufactured from selected bituminous coal through controlled steam activation, B-80 powdered activated carbon features well-developed mesoporous and microporous structures, with excellent adsorption capacity for organic matter, disinfection by-products and odor substances in water. With a pH range of 8–11 and uniform fine particle size, it adapts well to conventional water treatment processes and can be directly dosed into coagulation or sedimentation tanks.

It is widely used in municipal water plants for taste and odor control, as well as in chemical purification and industrial wastewater advanced treatment.

Key Features

  • Reliable Organic Removal

Delivers consistent adsorption capacity for organic pollutants, disinfection by-products, and color compounds in municipal drinking water and industrial wastewater treatment, ensuring stable effluent quality.

  • Ultra-Fine Powder Grading

Rapid adsorption kinetics and large contact area improve reaction efficiency in chemical purification and biological activated carbon (BAC) systems, reducing required dosage per treatment cycle.

  • Stable Alkaline pH Range

Natural pH compatibility minimizes acid-base adjustment needs in conventional water treatment processes, simplifying coagulation and sedimentation system operations.

  • High Surface Area Development

Well-developed porous structure provides abundant adsorption sites for trace organic contaminants and residual chlorine, supporting effective removal in municipal waterworks and industrial effluent polishing.

  • Dual Municipal & Industrial Versatility

Engineered for both municipal drinking water plants and industrial wastewater systems, as well as chemical purification and BAC processes where reliable performance and cost efficiency are equally critical.

Applications

  • Municipal Water Plant Taste & Odor Control: Municipal tap water plants must remove disinfection by-products, taste and odor compounds to meet consumer expectations. B-80's balanced pore structure and reliable adsorption performance provide consistent organic removal for conventional water treatment processes.

  • Urban & Industrial Wastewater Advanced Treatment: Effluents from municipal and industrial sources require further organic and chroma reduction before discharge or reuse. B-80's coal-based economy and ≥800 mg/g iodine value deliver dependable polishing performance.

  • Chemical Product Decolorization: Chemical manufacturing generates colored byproducts that degrade product grade. B-80's powdered form enables rapid batch treatment for decolorization and impurity removal in chemical refining processes.

  • Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) Media: BAC processes for drinking water and reclaimed water need adsorbent media that support microbial growth. B-80's pore structure and low toxicity make it suitable for integrated physical-biological systems.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between B-80 and B-60?

A: B-60 is mainly for flue gas and general industrial wastewater. B-80 uses higher-quality raw materials with stricter impurity control, making it suitable for municipal drinking water and higher-standard liquid purification. For the highest standards, consider B-90 or B-A0.

Q: How long is the service life in water treatment?

A: As a dosing-type powdered carbon, it is used as a one-time dosing agent discharged with sludge after adsorption. Total consumption depends on influent quality and treatment requirements. For reusable granular media, consider GAC or WT-S.

Q: Should I choose B-80 powder carbon or granular activated carbon for my water treatment plant?

A: B-80 is a powdered carbon designed for batch dosing and single-use applications, ideal for seasonal taste/odor events, temporary COD spikes, or chemical purification where flexible dosage is needed. For continuous filtration systems with backwash and regeneration capability, granular media such as GAC, WT-S, or WT-P are more suitable. Choose B-80 for on-demand, intermittent dosing; choose granular activated carbon for long-term continuous filtration and lower total media consumption over time.
