Product Overview

GAC S granular activated carbon adopts selected high-quality bituminous coal as raw material, through carbonization, controlled steam activation and precise acid washing process to reduce soluble ash and impurities. It features a well-developed porous structure with balanced micropores and mesopores, providing excellent adsorption capacity for organic pollutants, residual chlorine, disinfection by-products and odor substances in water.

With high mechanical strength and uniform particle gradation, it is suitable for fixed-bed filtration systems and can maintain stable hydraulic performance during long-term operation. It is widely used in POE water treatment, ultra pure water pretreatment and food & beverage production water treatment.

Key Features

  • Acid Washed Low Ash Formula

Effectively reduces soluble mineral impurities, avoids secondary pollution to water quality, and maintains stable pH value of effluent.

  • Reliable Adsorption Performance

Effectively removes organic matter, residual chlorine, color and odor in water, meeting conventional drinking water and process water treatment standards.

  • High Mechanical Strength

Resistant to friction and extrusion in filtration systems, produces less fine particles, and extends backwashing cycle.

Applications

  • Ultrapure Water Pretreatment: Semiconductor and pharmaceutical UPW systems require minimal ionic contamination upstream of RO and mixed-bed polishers. GAC S's acid-washed low-ash formula removes organics and residual chlorine without introducing soluble minerals that would compromise high-purity water quality.

  • Beer & Beverage Water Treatment: Food and beverage production water must meet strict taste and safety standards. GAC S's neutral pH and low impurity content improve water taste and remove odor without affecting downstream pH balance or introducing metal ions.

  • POE Water Filtration: Building entry water treatment systems for whole-house or whole-plant purification need reliable organic removal without secondary contamination. GAC S's acid-washed purity ensures consistent effluent quality for sensitive applications.

  • Food-Grade Process Water: Production scenarios with strict food safety requirements need carbon that will not leach impurities into process water. GAC S's reduced soluble ash meets these higher purity demands.

Technical Advantages

Technical Advantages.png
  • Neutral pH range of 5–8 after acid washing will not affect raw water pH, suitable for water systems sensitive to acid-base changes.

  • High abrasion resistance and low powder generation rate reduce the risk of fine carbon particles leaking into downstream pipelines.

  • Stable pore structure and long service life with lower replacement frequency compared with ordinary coal-based granular carbon.

  • Tested in strict accordance with GB/T 7702-2008 national standard for traceable quality and stable batch consistency.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between acid-washed GAC S and ordinary non-washed GAC?

A: Acid-washed GAC S has lower soluble ash content and neutral pH, which will not introduce mineral impurities into treated water. It is more suitable for food-grade water treatment, ultra pure water systems and scenarios with strict effluent pH requirements. Ordinary non-washed GAC is more cost-effective for general wastewater and conventional water treatment.

Q: What is the typical service life of GAC S in POE systems?

A: For municipal tap water with normal organic load, expected service life is 6–12 months. Actual life depends on influent water quality, flow rate and effluent requirements. Regular water quality testing is recommended. For longer service life, consider high-iodine GAC-P.

Q: Can GAC S be regenerated?

A: Yes, GAC S supports thermal regeneration. After adsorption saturation, professional high-temperature thermal regeneration can restore adsorption capacity, suitable for large-scale water treatment projects to reduce long-term operation costs. For non-regenerable applications, WT-S offers a more economical alternative.
