Key Features

  • Ultra-High Adsorption Performance

Iodine value exceeding 1000 mg/g and highly developed pore structure deliver exceptional organic contaminant removal, effectively reducing TOC and residual chlorine in drinking water, ultrapure water, and food process streams while extending filter bed service intervals.

  • Low Floating Rate & Fast Settling

Controlled floating rate below 6% ensures rapid particle settling during initial filling and backwashing cycles, minimizing carbon loss to overflow and maintaining stable bed height in continuous-flow filtration vessels.

  • Superior Mechanical Durability

Exceptional hardness above 90% resists attrition under continuous hydraulic loading and repeated backwashing, preserving particle integrity and preventing fine carbon migration that could foul downstream membranes or piping.

  • Low Ash & Moisture Stability

Controlled ash content below 15% and moisture below 5% ensure consistent adsorption kinetics and prevent inorganic leaching, making it suitable for food-grade water treatment and sensitive ultrapure water systems.

Applications

  • Drinking Water Deep Treatment: Municipal water plants and centralized supply systems must remove trace organic pollutants, residual chlorine and disinfection byproducts. GAC-P's ultra-high iodine value and surface area deliver extended service life and higher pollutant loading capacity than standard coal grades.

  • Ultrapure Water Production: Industrial UPW systems require core adsorption media to reduce organic load and protect downstream membrane and resin equipment. GAC-P's enhanced capacity lowers TOC more effectively, supporting ppb-level water purity targets.

  • Food & Beverage Process Water: Conventional food and beverage production needs reliable water quality improvement without premium pricing. GAC-P provides adsorption performance approaching coconut shell carbon at a coal-based cost point.

  • High-Load Industrial Pretreatment: Manufacturing process water with elevated organic content demands higher capacity media. GAC-P's 1000 mg/g iodine value handles heavier loads with longer intervals between replacement.

Technical Advantages

  • Ultra-high adsorption capacity with industry-leading performance among coal-based GAC, effectively removing low-concentration trace organic pollutants and extending filter bed service life.

  • Low floating rate minimizes carbon particle loss during water feeding and backwashing, suitable for various water treatment filtration processes.

  • High mechanical strength resists extrusion and friction, maintaining stable particle structure under long-term operation and backwashing cycles.

  • Customizable particle sizes support optimization according to system flow rate, pressure drop and treatment accuracy requirements.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between GAC-P and GAC SQ?

A: GAC-P is non-acid-washed high-iodine-value coal GAC with higher adsorption capacity and more competitive price, suitable for conventional high-standard water treatment. GAC SQ is acid-washed grade with lower ash content and neutral pH, more suitable for scenarios with strict requirements for water impurity and pH value. For combined high capacity and low impurity, consider GAC-P S.

Q: Can GAC-P be used for direct drinking water treatment?

A: GAC-P meets basic drinking water treatment requirements. For projects with the highest safety requirements, especially food and direct drinking water scenarios, acid-washed grade GAC-P S or NSF-certified PSD-A0 coconut shell carbon is recommended.

Q: Should I choose GAC-P or coconut shell carbon for UPW pretreatment?

A: GAC-P delivers >1000 mg/g iodine value at a competitive coal-based price, making it ideal for large-volume UPW pretreatment and municipal drinking water. For lower ash, NSF certification, or strict food-grade requirements, consider PSD-A0 or LC-A0 coconut shell grades. For neutral pH and acid-washed purity, GAC-P S or PSD-A0 S are recommended alternatives.
