DCS Acid-washed Coal Granular Carbon – Low Ash for Pharmaceutical & Sugar

DCS series is a high-purity acid-washed coal-based granular activated carbon, produced from premium bituminous coal through steam activation followed by precision acid washing treatment. With low soluble ash content and neutral pH, it avoids secondary ion pollution during liquid purification, specially designed for high-standard scenarios such as pharmaceutical refining, high-grade sugar decolorization and fine chemical purification.

Product Overview

Based on DC grade activated carbon, DCS series adds deep acid washing process to effectively remove soluble mineral impurities and ash components in carbon particles, controlling effluent pH at 5–8 to avoid introducing metal ions and acid-base interference into the treated liquid.

It retains excellent decolorization performance with ≥950 mg/g iodine value and ≥160 mg/g methylene blue value, and features high mechanical strength for long-term fixed-bed operation. It is the preferred adsorbent for liquid purification processes with strict impurity control requirements.

Key Features

  • Acid Washed Low Ash Formula

Deep acid washing removes soluble mineral impurities, avoids secondary ion pollution, meets high-purity liquid production requirements.

  • Neutral Effluent pH (pH 5–8)

Stable neutral pH range, does not affect the acid-base property of feed liquid, suitable for pH-sensitive production processes.

  • Excellent Decolorization Capacity

Efficiently removes colored substances and organic impurities, ensures product clarity and purity.

  • High Abrasion Resistance

Maintains complete particle structure during long-term operation and regeneration, low fine powder generation.

Applications

  • Pharmaceutical Product Ion Contamination Risk: Standard coal carbon introduces soluble ash and mineral ions that compromise drug safety and API purity. DCS's precision acid washing reduces soluble impurities to neutral pH levels, preventing secondary ion pollution in pharmaceutical refining, bulk drug production and preparation solutions.

  • High-Grade Sugar Liquor Deep Decolorization: Refined sugar production requires extremely low impurity introduction to achieve premium whiteness. DCS's acid-washed formula avoids metal ion and acid-base interference in syrup treatment, supporting food safety compliance where standard DC grade would introduce contaminants.

  • Fine Chemical High-Purity Refining: High-end fine chemicals with strict metal ion and impurity control need more than standard decolorization. DCS's low soluble ash and neutral effluent pH eliminate the need for additional pH adjustment steps, simplifying production flow.

  • Organic & Inorganic Acid Deep Purification: Acid products require removal of organic impurities and colored substances without altering acid-base properties. DCS's neutral pH output maintains feed liquid stability while improving product grade.

Technical Advantages

FAQ

Q: What is the core difference between DCS and DC?

A: DCS adds acid washing on the basis of DC with lower soluble ash content and neutral pH of 5–8, which will not introduce ion impurities into treated liquid. It is suitable for pharmaceutical, food and high-purity chemical scenarios. DC is a conventional industrial grade with higher cost performance for general decolorization.

Q: What particle size specifications are available?

A: DCS series provides two standard specifications: DCS 830 (8×30 mesh) and DCS 1240 (12×40 mesh), selected according to treatment flow rate, liquid viscosity and purification accuracy. For food-grade powdered alternatives, consider F-14 or F-16.

Q: Does DCS meet food contact standards?

A: DCS acid-washed grade has low impurity content and can be used for food and sugar decolorization. For scenarios requiring explicit food-grade certification, we recommend F-series wood-based powdered activated carbon with food production license.
