WT-P Coal-Based GAC - 8×30 Mesh for Municipal & Industrial Wastewater

WT-P is a high-performance coal-based granular activated carbon engineered for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. Produced from select bituminous coal through controlled steam activation, it delivers reliable adsorption performance with high iodine number (>1000 mg/g), exceptional mechanical strength (>90%), and stable hydraulic characteristics. Available in 8×30 and 12×40 mesh sizes, it serves biological post-treatment, tertiary polishing, reclaimed water production, and sewage pretreatment systems where durable granular media and predictable performance are required.

Product Overview

WT-P coal granular activated carbon is manufactured from selected bituminous coal through carbonization and high-temperature steam activation. The product develops a balanced micro-mesoporous structure that effectively removes dissolved organic contaminants, residual color, and odor compounds from municipal and industrial wastewater streams.

With excellent mechanical strength exceeding 90%, WT-P withstands continuous backwashing and hydraulic shock with minimal attrition, maintaining stable bed integrity over long operational cycles. The controlled ash content below 15% minimizes inorganic residue accumulation, while the low floating rate below 6% ensures rapid bed settling during startup. The product is available in 8×30 mesh for standard high-flow applications and 12×40 mesh for enhanced contact efficiency. Manufactured and tested in strict accordance with GB/T 7702-2008 national standards, WT-P delivers batch-to-batch consistency for large-scale continuous water treatment operations.

Key Features

  • High Iodine Adsorption (>1000 mg/g)

Delivers strong capacity for organic contaminant removal, ensuring efficient COD and color reduction across varying wastewater compositions.

  • Superior Mechanical Strength (>90%)

Resists particle breakage under continuous backwashing and hydraulic loading, reducing fines generation and downstream equipment fouling.

  • Low Ash & Floating Rate (<15% ash, <6% floaters)

Minimizes inorganic buildup in filter beds and ensures rapid settling during initial filling, preventing carbon carryover to clarifiers.

  • Moisture Control (<5%)

Prevents pore saturation from residual moisture, maintaining consistent adsorption kinetics and accurate dosing calculations.

Applications

  • Municipal Sewage Tertiary Treatment:Polishes secondary biological effluent to meet discharge standards, removing residual organics and color that escape biological degradation.

  • Industrial Wastewater Polishing :Treats effluent from chemical, textile, and food processing plants where variable organic loads demand reliable adsorption capacity.

  • Biological Post-Treatment Systems:Installed after activated sludge or MBR processes to capture refractory organics and protect downstream disinfection stages.

  • Reclaimed Water Production:Removes trace organics and odor compounds to produce safe, high-quality reclaimed water for irrigation and industrial reuse.

  • Sewage Pretreatment:Reduces organic loading at the head of treatment plants, protecting biological units from toxic shock and improving overall process stability.

FAQ

Q: Can WT-P be thermally regenerated?

A: Yes, WT-P is suitable for thermal reactivation, making it economical for large-scale continuous operations. For systems requiring acid-washed media to protect downstream membranes, our GAC S or GAC-P S grades offer compatible regeneration profiles with lower leachable ash.

Q: Is WT-P effective for emerging contaminants like pharmaceuticals?

A: WT-P provides good adsorption for many trace organic contaminants. For specific PPCP removal or micro-polluted source water, our B-A0 or B-90 powdered activated carbon may offer enhanced contact efficiency through direct dosing.

Q: Does WT-P require acid washing?

A: Standard WT-P is suitable for most municipal and industrial wastewater applications. For ultra-pure water or pH-sensitive processes such as boiler feedwater or semiconductor pre-treatment, we recommend acid-washed grades including GAC S, GAC-P S, or coconut-shell-based PSD-A0 S.
