SRC-A Impregnated Coal Columnar Activated Carbon for Food Processing Odor Treatment

SRC-A is a specialized 4mm impregnated coal columnar activated carbon designed specifically for challenging odor treatment applications in food processing, wastewater treatment, and chemical industries. Through advanced steam activation followed by proprietary impregnation treatment, SRC-A delivers targeted removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), low concentration organic sulfide gases, and their derivatives. The precise particle size control and enhanced pore structure ensure stable bed performance, low pressure drop, and extended service life in continuous gas-phase applications where consistent odor control is essential for regulatory compliance and operational safety.

Product Overview

Specialized Impregnated Carbon for Sulfur Compound Removal

SRC-A is designed to remove sulfur-containing odorous gases that standard activated carbon cannot handle efficiently. Using advanced impregnation technology and high-quality coal-based activated carbon, it chemically captures and fixes H₂S and organic sulfides, ensuring stable and long-lasting odor control even at low concentrations.

Advanced Impregnation Technology

SRC-A is made from premium bituminous coal formed into 4mm columnar pellets. After steam activation, the carbon is impregnated with special chemicals to create reactive sites. These sites convert H₂S and mercaptans into stable, non-volatile compounds that are permanently trapped in the carbon.

Packaging & Shipping

To meet diverse customer requirements, our activated carbon is available in multiple packaging options:

20 kg/bag – Ideal for laboratory use, pilot testing, and small-scale applications with convenient handling.

500 kg/bag – Bulk packaging designed for large-scale industrial production and continuous processing.

All packages are engineered to maintain product quality, prevent moisture absorption, and ensure easy storage and transportation.

Key Features

  • Chemical Impregnation for Irreversible H₂S Capture: Proprietary formula enables 95%+ removal efficiency even at 1-5 ppm, converting H₂S to stable compounds via chemisorption—outperforming physical adsorption alone.

  • Targeted Organic Sulfide Removal: Highly effective against mercaptans, thioethers and foul-smelling sulfides, with 3-5x higher capacity than standard activated carbon (ideal for food processing/waste management).

  • Stable Bed Performance: Uniform 4mm pellets ensure consistent packing, prevent channeling and enable even gas distribution for reliable service life.

  • Food Industry Safety Compliance: Manufactured to food-grade standards with non-toxic properties, suitable for food processing environments.

  • Low Pressure Drop Operation: Optimized 4mm size maintains 300-600 Pa/m at design flow, minimizing energy consumption in ventilation systems.

  • Extended Service Life: Chemical reaction mechanism delivers predictable loading curves, avoiding unexpected breakthrough and simplifying replacement scheduling.

Applications

  • Food Processing Odor Treatment: Eliminates sulfur-based odors (e.g., H₂S, mercaptans) in meat, dairy, and food manufacturing facilities.

  • Wastewater Odor Control: Neutralizes foul gases from sewage treatment plants and wastewater processing facilities.

  • Acid Gas Removal: Efficiently captures H₂S, SO₂, and other acid gases via chemical absorption.

  • Oil & Gas Desulfurization: Ideal for natural gas, petrochemical, and refinery desulfurization systems.

  • Chemical Processing: Used for sulfur compound removal and high-purity gas purification in chemical production.

Technical Advantages

  • Optimized pore structure with high micropore volume, ensuring superior adsorption efficiency for VOCs and organic gases

  • High CTC activity (>50%) indicating strong adsorption capacity and consistent performance

  • Excellent mechanical strength, minimizing breakage and dust generation during transportation and operation

  • Low moisture and ash content, improving adsorption efficiency and extending service life

  • Uniform pellet size distribution for reduced pressure drop in industrial systems

  • Stable performance under high humidity and continuous airflow conditions

FAQ

Q1: How does impregnated activated carbon differ from standard carbon for H₂S removal?

A: Standard carbon uses reversible physical adsorption (ineffective at <10 ppm H₂S). SRC-A relies on irreversible chemisorption: H₂S reacts with impregnated catalysts to form stable compounds, offering 5-10x higher capacity at low concentrations and resisting desorption.

Q2: What's  SRC-A's service life in food processing odor control?

A: Typically 6-12 months for food processing (5-50 ppm H₂S) and 3-6 months for wastewater treatment (50-200 ppm). Its linear loading curve enables accurate replacement scheduling.

Q3: Is SRC-A safe for food processing facilities?

A: Yes. It meets food-grade standards, is non-toxic, and safe for ventilation systems. We provide SDS, compliance certificates, and third-party testing reports upon request.

Q4: Can SRC-A be regenerated after H₂S saturation?

A: No—chemically bound sulfur compounds can't be easily removed. However, its high loading capacity lowers total ownership costs. Spent SRC-A is typically disposed of as non-hazardous waste (verify local regulations).

Q5: What humidity is optimal for SRC-A?

A: 40-80% RH (best performance). Below 40% RH reduces reaction efficiency; above 80% RH may block pores. Optimal temperature: 10-50°C. Use high-humidity grades for >90% RH applications.
