PFH-K Impregnated Coal Columnar Activated Carbon For Ammonia Removal

The PFH-K inverts standard impregnation chemistry, employing acid functional groups to chemisorb basic gases—essential for environments where ammonia, amines, or other alkaline compounds threaten personnel safety or process integrity.

Product Overview

While most impregnated carbon targets acid gases, PFH-K addresses the opposite challenge: alkaline gas neutralization. Phosphoric acid impregnation creates reactive sites that convert gaseous ammonia to stable ammonium phosphate within the carbon pore structure.

Acid Impregnation Chemistry:

  • Base: High-strength coal columnar carbon (4.0mm)

  • Impregnant: Phosphoric acid solution (8-12% P2O5 loading)

  • Neutralization: NH3 + H3PO4 → NH4H2PO4

  • Capacity: >25g NH3/100g carbon at breakthrough

  • Selectivity: Effective for NH3, amines, pyridine, and basic organics

Engineering Considerations:

Acid-impregnated carbon requires humidity (RH >40%) for optimal reaction kinetics. Dry ammonia streams show reduced initial efficiency until moisture equilibrium establishes.

Targeted Contaminant Removal & Enhanced Chemical Reactivity

Our specialty impregnated activated carbons combine premium coconut shell or coal substrates with precisely loaded active agents (silver, copper, zinc, or proprietary catalysts) for selective pollutant capture.

Silver-impregnated variants (PSD-Ag+) deliver >99% bacteria inactivation for drinking water safety, while sulfur-impregnated grades (SRC-A/SRC-E) achieve >98% mercury and heavy metal removal.

The ABEK-type comprehensive protection carbon provides multi-gas defense against organic vapors, acid gases, ammonia, and formaldehyde for industrial respirators and nuclear facility protection. Custom impregnation available for specific contaminant challenges including H₂S, SO₂, NOx, and radioactive iodine removal.

FAQ

Q1: Why can't standard carbon remove ammonia?

A: Ammonia is highly polar and weakly adsorbs on non-polar carbon surfaces. Physical adsorption capacity is <2% vs. 30%+ for organics. PFH-K's acid impregnation converts physisorption to chemisorption, increasing capacity 10-15× through chemical reaction rather than surface attraction.

Q2: Is PFH-K compatible with other gas removal needs?

A: PFH-K specifically targets basic gases. For mixed environments (ammonia + acid gases + organics), specify multi-gas cartridges or layered bed designs. ABEK-type comprehensive protection carbon combines acid, base, organic, and specific gas capabilities in formulated blends.

Q3: Can you provide samples before bulk order?

A: Yes, samples can be given to you. Please contact us for details. Once we charge you the sample fee, please rest assured that this will be a refund when you place a formal order.

Q4: What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: MOQ depends on product type. Please contact us for detailed information.

Q5: How long is the delivery time?

A: Normally 15-30 working days depending on order quantity and production schedule.

Q6: How to confirm payment?

A: We accept T/T ,L/C, and other payment methods are also acceptable. Please contact us before you make payment through other payment methods. In addition, a deposit of 30-50% is feasible, and the balance shall be paid before shipment.
