Product Overview

DC granular activated carbon adopts selected high-quality bituminous coal as raw material, processed through controlled carbonization and steam activation to form a balanced pore structure with rich mesopores and macropores, providing excellent adsorption capacity for macromolecular pigments, organic impurities and colloidal substances in liquid.

With high mechanical strength and abrasion resistance, it is suitable for fixed-bed continuous treatment systems and supports multiple thermal regeneration cycles, effectively reducing long-term operation costs. It is available in two standard particle size grades, DC 830 and DC 1240, to adapt to different treatment flow rates and process requirements.

Key Features

  • High Decolorization Performance (≥950 mg/g iodine, ≥160 mg/g methylene blue)

Effectively removes colored impurities, organic by-products and odor substances in various liquid systems, meeting conventional purification and decolorization standards.

  • High Mechanical Strength (>90% hardness)

Resistant to friction and extrusion in fixed-bed systems, produces less fine powder, adapts to frequent backwashing and regeneration cycles.

  • Standardized Particle Size Options

Available in 8×30 mesh (DC 830) and 12×40 mesh (DC 1240), suitable for different flow velocity and pressure drop requirements.

  • Thermally Regenerable

Supports multiple thermal regeneration cycles, restores most adsorption capacity, reduces comprehensive operation cost for large-scale production.

Applications

  • Organic Acid Purification: Acetic acid, citric acid and lactic acid production generates colored byproducts and organic impurities that degrade product grade. DC's mesopore-rich coal structure adsorbs these macromolecular contaminants, improving acid clarity without introducing inorganic residues.

  • Sugar Liquor Decolorization: Raw sugar juice and syrup contain polyphenolics and caramel compounds responsible for color. DC's balanced pore structure targets these pigment molecules while allowing smaller sugar molecules to pass through, maximizing decolorization efficiency without sugar loss.

  • General Chemical Purification: Fine chemical and petrochemical liquid streams require color and odor polishing. DC provides cost-effective decolorization for continuous fixed-bed operations where premium grades would be economically impractical.

  • Pharmaceutical Intermediate Polishing: Pharmaceutical bulk drug production requires removal of colored impurities and byproducts. DC's high mechanical strength supports continuous fixed-bed operation and multiple regeneration cycles for cost-sensitive pharmaceutical applications.

Technical Advantages

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between DC 830 and DC 1240?

A: DC 830 (8×30 mesh) has larger particle size and lower pressure drop, suitable for high-flow and high-viscosity liquid systems. DC 1240 (12×40 mesh) has smaller particle size and faster adsorption rate, suitable for fine decolorization with higher purification requirements.

Q: Can DC be regenerated and reused?

A: Yes, DC coal-based granular carbon supports high-temperature thermal regeneration. After adsorption saturation, most adsorption capacity can be restored through professional regeneration, suitable for continuous industrial production to reduce material cost.

Q: Is DC suitable for food-grade sugar decolorization?

A: DC is designed for general industrial decolorization. For food-grade production with strict safety requirements, we recommend acid-washed DCS series or wood-based F-series powdered activated carbon with food production license.
