PSD-Ag+ is a silver-loaded antibacterial granular activated carbon built on an acid-washed high-purity coconut shell base. PSD-Ag+ uses acid-washed coconut shell activated carbon as its substrate, ensuring low ash, low extractables and a clean base material. Controlled silver impregnation chemically anchors silver ions onto the carbon matrix, creating a sustained-release bacteriostatic effect.

The silver ions act by disrupting the surface charge potential of microbial cell membranes, inactivating bacteria, algae and fungi on contact. This prevents the growth of bacterial colonies and biofilm inside the carbon bed — a common issue with plain activated carbon that can lead to odor problems and bacterial regrowth in stagnant or low-flow systems.
